From where I sit, the way I See It: The Meeting With Myself.
Since the beginning of the year I have been soul searching. I have been thinking about many things; ranging from morning after Creation Day to where I am today.
I read about Pashtunwali "the unwritten code of life" as practised by Pashtuns; studied the 13 virtues of Benjamin Franklin; revisited Plato's philosophy concerning justice, the order and character of the just city-state, and the just man; fell in love with Humanist African Philosophy of Ubuntu; contracted serious flu and survived; wrote dozen articles and shredded the drafts;
Despite the engagements, I remained unsettled and restless.
To put the matter to rest, I planned for a very critical meeting - with myself!
I am socialized to have a meeting to plan a meeting. I didn't want to veer off the well beaten path. I planned to have a meeting to plan for the meeting.
The initial meeting was stormy. It was expected. I was dealing with weighty matters. It was about setting the agenda.
Setting the agenda was very acrimonious. It took me 90 minutes to agree with myself. It was a well negotiated agenda.
I had my first session of the meeting some two weeks ago. This meeting took place during lunch break from work. It was well attended and the participant conducted himself well. It was the preliminary bite. Ice breaker!
It took me nine sessions and 360 minutes to go through the five agenda points. Very forward looking agreements have been reached. The document is being reviewed by the participant (yours truly).
I left my final meeting today at 0100hrs.
As the wise saying goes, "to be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
I am myself, again.
