Media.com is building a verified media network where identifiable people and Organizations publish directly at the source. Verification is central to that model: it helps establish who controls a profile, whether an Organization is genuine and who is authorized to act on its behalf.
We are looking for a careful, objective and highly organized Verification Officer to review individual and Organization verification cases.
You will assess identity information, corporate records and evidence of authority using Media.com’s verification systems and approved third-party providers. You will make decisions under documented standards, communicate clearly with applicants and escalate complex or higher-risk cases when required.
The opportunity
This role sits within Media.com’s Trust, Safety & Verification team and supports the integrity of the network at a foundational level.
You will work across individual identity verification, Organization verification and authorized-representative checks. Cases may involve identity documents, business registries, corporate records, website domains, professional contact details and evidence showing that a person is entitled to establish or publish for an Organization.
The role requires sound judgment, attention to detail and respect for the sensitive information entrusted to Media.com.
Verification establishes identity and authority. It does not endorse a person, Organization or publication, and it does not determine whether published claims are true.
What you’ll do
- Review individual identity-verification applications and supporting information.
- Review Organization-verification cases using reliable corporate registries, official records and other approved sources.
- Confirm that the Organization applying for verification is genuine and active where required by the applicable verification standard.
- Assess whether applicants are authorized to create, manage or publish for an Organization.
- Review business email addresses, website domains, corporate documents and representative-authority evidence.
- Examine automated verification results and complete manual reviews when a case cannot be resolved automatically.
- Approve, request further information, decline or escalate applications in accordance with documented procedures.
- Identify inconsistencies, altered documents, impersonation attempts, duplicate identities and other potential indicators of misuse.
- Conduct additional screening where required by Media.com’s policies and the nature of the verification.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with applicants when further information is needed.
- Maintain accurate decision records, review notes and audit trails.
- Handle personal and corporate information in accordance with security, privacy and access-control requirements.
- Meet quality and turnaround targets without compromising the integrity of verification decisions.
- Escalate complex, sensitive or higher-risk matters to senior Trust, Safety, Legal or Compliance personnel.
- Support quality-assurance reviews and help identify recurring errors or emerging verification risks.
- Provide practical feedback to product and engineering teams to improve verification tools and workflows.
- Assist Customer Support and Publishing Operations with verification-related enquiries.
- Stay informed about changes to identity documents, company registries, fraud patterns and verification practices.
What you’ll bring
- Experience in identity verification, business verification, KYC, KYB, customer onboarding, fraud operations, compliance operations, trust and safety or a comparable field.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to assess information consistently.
- Experience reviewing identity documents, corporate records or evidence of representative authority.
- Sound judgment and the confidence to make objective decisions under documented standards.
- The ability to identify discrepancies without making unsupported assumptions.
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to explain information requirements clearly.
- Respect for confidentiality and experience handling sensitive personal or business information.
- The ability to manage multiple cases, priorities and service deadlines.
- Confidence using case-management systems, administrative tools and structured review workflows.
- A calm and professional approach when dealing with frustrated or concerned applicants.
- The ability to work collaboratively while maintaining independent judgment.
Particularly valuable experience
- Working with identity-verification platforms such as Jumio or comparable providers.
- Reviewing Organization ownership, control or authorized-representative information.
- Using government, corporate or professional registries across multiple jurisdictions.
- Investigating impersonation, document manipulation or account misuse.
- Working in a regulated, security-sensitive or audit-controlled environment.
- Supporting verification across different countries, document types and languages.
- Helping design operational procedures, decision matrices or quality-assurance programs.
What success looks like
During your first year, you will:
- Make accurate and consistent verification decisions.
- Maintain complete, clear and reviewable case records.
- Help applicants progress through verification with minimal unnecessary friction.
- Recognize and escalate complex or potentially fraudulent cases appropriately.
- Meet operational turnaround expectations while protecting verification quality.
- Contribute practical insights that improve Media.com’s systems and procedures.
- Help build trust in Media.com by ensuring verified profiles are connected to identifiable people and legitimate Organizations.
Why Media.com
- Work on identity and accountability infrastructure at the center of a new media network.
- Help develop verification operations from an early stage.
- Address meaningful challenges involving identity, authority, publishing and online trust.
- Collaborate with colleagues across trust and safety, product, publishing, support and operations.
- Take responsibility for work that directly affects the integrity of the Media.com network.
