Every year <a href="/search?search=%23sundancefilmfestival" type="hashtag">#sundancefilmfestival</a> (virtual or in-person) marks the real start of the year for me. January is a transition (and hibernation) month lol. <a href="/search?search=%23sundance" type="hashtag">#sundance</a> kicks off the year - and in particular, the year in <a href="/search?search=%23creativity" type="hashtag">#creativity</a> and has for nearly a decade. This year feels like Sundance in month six because of all the craziness - multiple terrorist attacks (was that really only a month ago??!!), the wildfires of LA, January 20 inauguration and ensuing chaos, and a plane crash with no survivors on the Potomac River. We all knew what was coming, but the last 24 hours have been heartbreaking and shocking. While not perfect, I take some comfort in knowing that #[nyc] is a city of immigrants (40%), home to over 800 languages. New York City is a #[sanctuarycity] and for many, the gateway to the United States. It’s the proud home of The United Nations and the city of global diplomacy. We are fierce advocates and defenders of individual freedoms and personal identity, but value equally our shared humanity, #[humanrights], and tolerance-respect for others. I heart NYC.

I inadvertently made my <a href="/search?search=%23broadway" type="hashtag">#broadway</a> debut today - we were featured in the closing night third act of <a href="/search?search=%23ourtown" type="hashtag">#ourtown</a> <a href="/search?search=%23pulitzerprizewinner" type="hashtag">#pulitzerprizewinner</a> <a href="/search?search=%23kennyleon" type="hashtag">#kennyleon</a>, featuring <a href="/search?search=%23katieholmes" type="hashtag">#katieholmes</a> and <a href="/search?search=%23jamesparsons" type="hashtag">#jamesparsons</a> - I couldn't figure out why they directed me to the stage when I arrived, then I couldn't figure out why we had a dedicated handler/usher who told us that we'd be surrounded by actors the entire show (and if we had to go to the restroom) we needed to raise our hands really high and he'd come and escort us (lol) off-stage, but then we wouldn't be allowed back in. Then I couldn't figure out at the end why the lights were so bright when we were all clearly emotional bcause of the graveyard scene/third act.
