We just had our 8th major aviation disaster in the first 6 weeks of 2025. So many of you keep asking, why? Here’s why it’s happening (in my opinion): 1. Maintenance – These used to be well-respected, well-paying union jobs that required a reputable degree. Maintenance workers were admired, and the quality of work reflected that. But airlines have slashed these jobs in favor of boosting C-suite salaries and shareholder profits. Now, maintenance teams are understaffed, and the work is being done by under qualified people who either don’t care or simply don’t know how to do it properly. 2. FAA – Severely understaffed and getting worse by the day (hundreds more jobs cut today alone). Employees are being forced to do the work of several people, and when that happens in aviation, disaster is inevitable. At the root of it all? The same thing that’s behind most of our problems—GREED. 📷: CNN/John Nelson
