What does licensing a handle mean?

A licensed handle gives your profile the right to actively use an eligible Media.com address for the duration of the license.

Active use, not ownership

Licenses run for a year at a time and renew annually.

Your reservation fee is credited toward the first-year license if you activate the handle before the reservation expires.

Reservations hold the handle temporarily but do not activate it as your profile address.

How reservations work
  • The reservation period begins when payment is made.
  • A reservation is temporary. The reserved handle is not active until it is licensed.
  • Your profile still has only one active handle.
  • The fee is credited toward the first-year license if you activate before the reservation expires.
  • Expired reservations may return to availability.
  • Extensions and repeat reservations are subject to Media.com’s reservation rules.

Changing your handle

When you activate a new licensed handle, it becomes the profile’s one active Media.com address.

Your previous handle may enter a temporary holding period before it is released or otherwise classified under Media.com’s handle protection rules.

Where supported, Media.com may redirect the previous profile address for a transition period.
