These text messages apparently detailed how in the early months of 2020 I’d travelled to the Gold Coast to meet a source, and how my wife had befriended another woman at a yoga studio and confided about my money troubles and desperation to solve them.

Mr Mawhinney was informed by a source that Mr Shapiro would stop targeting him and his business with adverse media coverage if a payment of $20,000 was made to Mr Shapiro's nominated bank account in South Africa. Mr Mawhinney did not agree to making the payment.

While the Financial Review was following James Mawhinney’s investment schemes, it turns out he was trying to follow us.

This letter was sent to the AFR's editor Michael Stutchbury twice (on 7 June 2020 and 9 June 2020) however it was never published. It called out the causal link between the mis-reporting by Jonathan Shapiro and Liam Walsh (which Mr Stutchbury allowed to be published in the Financial Review) and the harm caused to Mayfair 101's investors whom they revelled in the misery of.

Jonathan Shapiro and Liam Walsh misled the Clarion Award judges into believing Mayfair 101 was a 'black hole' when it wasn't. The award they won for Business Journalism should be returned by them or taken from them. It is not a good look for Clarion or O'Brien Accountants to be condoning this type of journalism.

<h3 style="margin-left:0px;">Queensland Clarion Award given to Jonathan Shapiro and Liam Walsh for Mayfair 101 reporting</h3>On 19 September 2020 the Queensland Clarion Awards were hosted by Peter McCutcheon and Jessica van Vonderen. &nbsp;&nbsp;At this event Jonathan Shapiro and Liam Walsh of the Australian Financial Review were awarded the Business Journalism Award which was supported by O'Brian Accountants', for their reporting about Mayfair 101.&nbsp;The award was for what they described as "Dunked: Behind Mayfair 101".&nbsp;Mayfair 101 maintains that the journalists misrepresented Mayfair 101's business to readers of the publication, misled the judges, and the public in relation to Mayfair 101's business.&nbsp;These journalists never interviewed any staff member of Mayfair 101 including its Managing Director, James Mawhinney. &nbsp;Their reporting was speculative, lacked proper foundation, and misrepresented Mayfair 101 as a funds management business when it wasn't.&nbsp;Mayfair 101 calls for the award to be returned by Mr Shapiro and Mr Walsh or for Clarion to do the right thing and strip the award from them so these type of journalistic practices are not endorsed or encouraged by others.
