Being listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site seems to be insufficient to protect the Pilbara's rock art from the poor stewardship of the Western Australian Government and the avarice of resource companies. These are some photos I took when I lived and worked among the Aboriginal people there. These are 30,000 to 50,000 years old, and they may vanish forever due to air pollution from gas extraction and other industrial areas nearby.
