Surely, no American drama is as haunted by ghosts of actors past as “Streetcar.” By that I mean not only Brando, but also Vivien Leigh in the film as Blanche (a part originated onstage by Jessica Tandy). Leigh’s interpretation was described by Pauline Kael

I have seen the film and read the script countless times - I have read all of Tennessee Williams’ plays - I saw the Blair Underwood version several years ago and CANNOT wait for this new performance at BAM. I inadvertently made my <a href="/search?search=%23broadway" type="hashtag">#broadway</a> debut today - we were featured in the closing night third act of <a href="/search?search=%23ourtown" type="hashtag">#ourtown</a> <a href="/search?search=%23pulitzerprizewinner" type="hashtag">#pulitzerprizewinner</a> <a href="/search?search=%23kennyleon" type="hashtag">#kennyleon</a>, featuring <a href="/search?search=%23katieholmes" type="hashtag">#katieholmes</a> and <a href="/search?search=%23jamesparsons" type="hashtag">#jamesparsons</a> - I couldn't figure out why they directed me to the stage when I arrived, then I couldn't figure out why we had a dedicated handler/usher who told us that we'd be surrounded by actors the entire show (and if we had to go to the restroom) we needed to raise our hands really high and he'd come and escort us (lol) off-stage, but then we wouldn't be allowed back in. Then I couldn't figure out at the end why the lights were so bright when we were all clearly emotional bcause of the graveyard scene/third act. Oh right...... we were seated onstage as PART of the graveyard scene/third act. <a href="/search?search=%23nyc" type="hashtag">#nyc</a> <a href="/search?search=%23broadwayshow" type="hashtag">#broadwayshow</a> <a href="/search?search=%23celebritysighting" type="hashtag">#celebritysighting</a> <a href="/search?search=%23audiencerole" type="hashtag">#audiencerole</a>
