Dangerous Organizations Rules of Engagement

Introduction

At Media.com, we are dedicated to keeping our community safe from harmful, violent, or unlawful users and groups. We do not allow any content that threatens, promotes, or glorifies violence, hate, or criminal activity. Our goal is to maintain a secure online space for everyone.

What We Prohibit

Media.com does not allow the following:

  • Violent Users or Groups: These include people or organizations that use or promote physical violence, whether it’s against people, animals, or important infrastructure. This includes terrorist groups, violent extremist organizations, or anyone who commits or supports violent attacks.
  • Hateful Users or Groups: These are individuals or groups that intentionally promote hate or violence towards people based on their race, ethnicity, color, caste, national origin, immigration status, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, medical condition, or veteran status.

Violations

We strictly prohibit users from:

  • Supporting, affiliating with, or promoting violent or high-risk users and their activities.
  • Engaging in violent acts, recruitment, or offering services that further the goals of dangerous individuals or organizations.

Exceptions

There are some exceptions to this policy:

  1. Reformed Groups: Organizations that have renounced violence and hate or are involved in peaceful resolution efforts.
  2. Government Entities: State or government organizations, including elected officials.
  3. Educational Content: Material related to dangerous organizations that is clearly for educational, documentary, or newsworthy purposes.
  4. Non-related Offenses: Individuals with past criminal convictions that are unrelated to their activity on Media.com.

How to Report Violations

Anyone, even non-Media.com users, can report violations of this policy by completing a report form.

How We Detect and Enforce This Policy

We use a mix of technology and human review to find and remove high-risk accounts. We find violations in the following ways:

  • User Reports: Users can report content or profiles using the “Report” button found on posts or profile pages.
  • Government Reports: We work with government agencies to identify and remove non-compliant accounts.
  • Automated Systems: Our tools continuously scan content for potential violations and flag it for review or automatic removal.
  • Internal Review: Our moderators regularly review the platform to detect and remove harmful accounts.

Appeals

If your account has been flagged under this policy, you have the right to appeal. Appeals are only allowed in rare, exceptional cases.

Working with Law Enforcement

We work closely with law enforcement to keep our users and the public safe from dangerous individuals and organizations. If we believe any content violates the law, we may share relevant information with law enforcement agencies in line with our Law Enforcement Liaison Policy.
