At Media.com, we are dedicated to maintaining a safe and respectful community for all users. This guide explains our policies on high-risk users, who may pose a threat to our platform or others.

Commitment to User Safety

Media.com is committed to providing our users with a trusted and safe online community, which minimizes the risk of harm caused by potentially violent, hateful or unlawful users and associated entities.

This includes, but is not limited to crime syndicates, cyber criminals or individuals who have attempted to defraud the platform, as well as users or entities promoting or facilitating the promotion of such organizations, groups or activities.

Media.com uses Stripe to process payments on our platform, thus all users purchasing plans on Media.com must adhere to Stripe’s policies for prohibited businesses and services related to high-risk jurisdictions as designated by the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Persons Stripe has determined for various reasons, including legal, contractual, and commercial reasons, to be prohibited, such as those individuals or entities named to a restricted person or party list of, or otherwise restricted by, the US, United Kingdom, European Union, or United Nations, including the sanctions maintained by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Media.com does not tolerate content that purports to or actually threatens criminal activity. Where we consider this to be a risk or threat to Media.com users or the general public, we may take action.

Prohibitions

Media.com prohibits the use of Media.com by:

  1. Criminal Individuals or Entities: These are individuals or organizations that attempt to use Media.com for any form of unlawful activity against Media.com, other Media.com users or the general public.
  2. Affiliation with or promotion of the activities of High Risk Users ; engaging in or promoting violent acts, recruitment activities, or providing/distributing services or support to further the objectives of High Risk Users.

Exceptions

Exceptions to Media.com’s High Risk Users Policy include:

  1. Entities that have reformed, denounced violence and hate, or are engaged in peaceful resolution processes.
  2. State or governmental entities, including those with elected public representatives.
  3. Content relating to High Risk Users which is intended to be educational, documentary, or newsworthy purposes.
  4. Individuals convicted of criminal offenses unrelated to Media.com.

Flagging

Violations of this policy can be flagged by anyone, including those without a Media.com account by completing this form.

Enforcement

Our platform uses a combination of automated tools and human moderators to identify and remove accounts that may be high risk. Violations may come to our attention through the following methods:

User Reports: Users can report inappropriate profiles directly through the platform using the “Report” button available on each post or user profile page.

Regulatory Reports: We receive reports from government agencies that help us identify non-compliant accounts.

Automated Systems: Our automated systems continuously scan user-generated content for potential violations. When identified, content may be flagged for further review or automatically removed.

Internal Review: Our team of internal moderators regularly reviews the platform to proactively detect and address violating accounts.

Appeals

Media.com provides users who have been flagged under this policy with a right to appeal. Appeals will be allowed in exceptional circumstances only.

Law enforcement

Media.com is committed to protecting our users and the general public from High Risk Users. We work closely with law enforcement and online safety organizations to address and prevent risks associated with High Risk Users. Our aim is to foster a safe and harmonious online environment where users can engage freely without the fear of potential or actual harm from High Risk Users.

If Media.com in its sole discretion considers content posted on our network to be in violation of any laws we may share information relating to the offending content with relevant law enforcement agencies in line with our Law Enforcement Liaison Procedure.
