How We Approach Fact-Checking Rules of Engagement
Introduction
While Media.com verifies all user profiles to enhance accountability, we recognize that not all content may be free from misinformation. We reserve the right to take action should any user-generated content threaten to harm our community or the wider public.
How We Review Content
When content is flagged by our community, Media.com’s moderation team reviews it. If the content is in breach of our Guidelines, it is likely to be removed. The account responsible for posting the content may have their posting privileges limited or revoked.
Actions We May Take
If content is found to be false, misleading, or harmful, we may:
- add labels warning users about potential misinformation;
- limit the content's visibility;
- share credible information alongside the content;
- remove the content;
- warn or suspend the user that posted the content; and/or,
- permanently block accounts for repeated violations.
Communication and Transparency
When Media.com takes action on flagged content, we will notify the user(s) and explain the outcome. We aim to provide clear and timely updates to help guide future posts.
Our Commitment
While we strive to protect users from misinformation, no platform is completely risk-free. Media.com encourages users to verify any information they come across on our network, especially before making important decisions, including those related to business, personal relationships, health, finances, or education.
