Intellectual Property

Media.com is committed to ensuring that content shared on our platform respects copyright laws. We encourage all users to respect intellectual property rights and share content responsibly, creating a collaborative and legally compliant environment on Media.com.

Intellectual Property Rules of Engagement

Upload Only Content You Have the Right to Share

Media.com encourages users to share materials that they have personally created, such as photos, videos, music, or written works. If a user did not create the content, they should ensure they have explicit permission from the copyright holder to share it. Purchasing digital content, such as ebooks or music, does not grant anyone the right to upload or distribute it publicly.

Ensure Compliance Before Uploading

A user should verify that their content complies with Media.com’s Rules of Engagement and copyright laws before uploading. By uploading, a user confirms that they either own the rights to the content or have authorization to share it.

Respect the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) Process

If a user suspects that their copyrighted material has been used without permission, they should file a DMCA Notice of Alleged Infringement through Media.com’s reporting tool. They should include all required details, such as identifying the infringed material, specifying its location (e.g., URL), and providing their contact information. They must ensure their report includes the necessary legal statements and their signature to make it actionable. For more information on what exactly to include in a notice, please refer to our corresponding policy page.

Respond Appropriately to Copyright Notices

If a user receives notice of a copyright complaint via Media.com’s Content Moderation team, they should review the notice promptly and respond as needed. If a user believes the claim is in error, they may submit a counter-notice to assert their rights.

Avoid Repeat Violations

Users are encouraged to regularly review their uploaded content to ensure compliance. Accounts with multiple copyright violations may face suspension or permanent termination.
