Intellectual Property Rules of Engagement
Upload Only Content You Have the Right to Share
Share materials that you have personally created, such as photos, videos, music, or written works. If you did not create the content, ensure you have explicit permission from the copyright holder to share it. Remember that purchasing digital content (such as a pdf of a book, or music files) does not grant you the right to upload or distribute it on the platform.
Ensure Compliance Before Uploading
Verify that your content complies with Media.com’s Terms of Service and copyright laws before uploading. By uploading content, you confirm that you either own the rights to the content or have authorization to share it.
Respect the DMCA Process
If you suspect your copyrighted material has been used without permission, file a DMCA Notice of Alleged Infringement through Media.com’s reporting tool. Include all required details, such as identifying the infringed material, specifying its location (e.g., URL), and providing your contact information. Ensure your report includes the necessary legal statements and your signature to make it actionable.
For more information on what exactly to include in your notice, please refer to the policy tab at the top of this article.
Respond Appropriately to Copyright Notices
If you receive notice of a copyright complaint via Media.com’s Content Moderation team, review the notice promptly and respond as needed. If you believe the claim is in error, you may submit a counter-notice to assert your rights.
Avoid Repeat Violations
Regularly review your uploaded content to ensure compliance. Accounts with multiple copyright violations may face suspension or permanent termination.
