Introduction
As part of Media.com’s journey to redefine the landscape of digital interaction, we foster a vibrant, respectful, and informative environment for our diverse community. Our Content Creation and Conduct Standards are at the heart of this commitment, designed to guide users in enriching discussions while ensuring integrity and respect.
Key Principles
- Be Unemotive: We approach discussions calmly and neutrally. Focusing on facts rather than emotions contributes to a rational discourse that resolves differences and fosters mutual understanding.
- No Profanity: Our commitment to professionalism and respect extends to language. We ask that responses to claims or allegations remain free from profanity, ensuring that all members feel welcomed and valued in every interaction.
- Focus on the Issue, Not the Person: At Media.com, we believe in critiquing ideas, not individuals. This principle is essential to maintain a space where users feel safe to express their thoughts without fear of personal attacks. Critique constructively and focus on issues to foster an environment of growth and learning.
Creating and Sharing Content
We encourage you to:
Embrace authenticity: Share content that reflects verified truths and genuine experiences. Authenticity is the cornerstone of building trust and credibility within our community. This includes abiding by the following principles:
- Profile pictures belonging to individuals on Media.com should adhere to our content standards. Profile pictures should abide by our rules for Sensitive Content and should not be used for:
- Impersonation (for example, do not use another person as your profile photo).
- Handles should be based on the account holder’s verified name or personal identity. Handles should abide by our Hate Speech and Bullying and harassment policies, and should not include any references to:
- Breaking the law
- Impersonation
- Glorification of tragedies
- Self-destructive behavior
- Recreational drugs, hard drugs, and drug abuse, with exceptions for alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana
Champion Accurate Information: Be diligent in sharing information, especially on sensitive topics. Every piece of accurate information counts in the fight against the misinformation crisis.
To this end, content moderators at Media.com may:
- Apply labels to a variety of video, audio, and image content when users disclose that their content is AI-generated, or was created with the help of AI.
- Apply labels to early reporting or breaking events. These labels are intended to signal to users that the story is developing, and may not have complete information.
Promote Positive Engagement: With no comments, our platform encourages content that inspires, educates, and informs. Create content that contributes positively to the community's knowledge and well-being.
For more information on allowable content, please reference our Hate Speech, Bullying and Harassment, and Misinformation policies.
Sensitive Content
At Media.com, trust is the cornerstone on which our community is built. Our goal is to cultivate an environment where users can engage and express themselves, while maintaining a professional and positive space free from harmful, illegal, or disruptive behavior.
Our approach to safety is collaborative—Media.com and its global community work together to ensure a secure, respectful experience in real time. This commitment begins with our Community Guidelines, which carefully balance user expression with the safety of our broader community, and outline the standards of conduct expected from every member of the platform.
When we refer to harm, we mean any behavior that causes physical, emotional, social, or financial damage to individuals or society. Our guidelines serve as clear guardrails, applying to all content shared on the platform—including posts, messages, videos, and profiles. If a violation occurs, we may take corrective actions, such as content removal, restrictions on monetization features, issuing warnings, or account suspension.
In addition to behaviors as outlined in our Bullying and Harassment, Hate Speech, and Misinformation policies, the following content topics are considered sensitive, and should not be posted at all on Media.com:
- Content that centers solely on excessive or graphic violence and gore.
- Some graphic violence is context dependent, and may be deployed by journalists covering specific topics such as war.
- Content featuring death or extreme injury.

- Threats or attempts to inflict physical harm or death on others.
- Threats or attempts to hack or dox others.
- Pornographic content.
- Posting links to pornographic websites or the dark web.
Enforcement and Reporting
Our commitment to these standards requires vigilance and cooperation. We empower our community to report content that contradicts our principles:
Our team is dedicated to reviewing reported content and taking decisive action to uphold our standards, including content removal or modification, user guidance, or account suspension. These actions align with our commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful platform, following up with appropriate measures to protect our community.
Lastly, our moderators may suppress content that meets our Guidelines, but is considered low quality.
Conclusion
The Content Creation and Conduct Standards embody our dedication to ushering in a new era of online networks at Media.com. By adhering to these principles, we collectively ensure that our platform is known for authenticity, respect, and constructive engagement.
